On Saturday, December 7th, we held our 4th Annual Coat Drive during the Christmas Tree lighting “Light the Night”, located in downtown Naugatuck.
The ongoing construction equipment and barriers stored in front of our building did not stop what God had planned for that evening. We had individuals make a beeline for us as they look forward to our event each year. Many were giving thanks not just for the coats received but for helping the community. Tears were shed and sign language was used when one person could not find the words as she was overwhelmed by the generosity of CC Naugy. There were multiple inquiries as to how they can contribute to help the cause for next year. Prayers were lifted and praise was given throughout the evening. Overall, 120-coats were distributed along with free hats, scarves and gloves. We have 30-coats leftover in various Men’s, Women’s and Children’s sizes, that are located in the basement of the church. Special thanks to Nora, whose small but mighty voice brought so much cheer as she ran back and forth yelling, “FREE coats, Free jackets, Jesus loves you!!!”.
We are starting to plan for 2025, our 5th Annual Coat Drive. We already have some new ideas but are open to more and maybe even renaming the event!? Even though there was some struggle with organizing this year event, God truly guided this event. Special shoutout to Naugatuck Fire Department, Tuck’s Tavern, Horizon Homes Complex and our brothers and sisters at CC Naugy for making this possible! Thank you!
God Bless You!,
Heather Manis
